BALTIMORE - Competing in its second meet in as many days, Loyola's women's swimming and diving team remained undefeated on the season after upending both Manhattan University and the College of Notre Dame (CND) by a score of 53-40 on Sunday afternoon at the Greyhounds' Fitness and Aquatic Center (FAC).
The wins boost Loyola's record to 6-0 on the season, much to the delight of Head Coach Brian Loeffler.
"Today's victory was a full team effort," said Loeffler. "I was glad to see us swim well on back-to-back days."
Sophomore Chelsea Brace and freshman Nori Skoda led the charge for the Greyhounds as Brace won the 1,000 Free, the 100 Fly, and was a member of the winning 400 Free relay team, while Skoda triumphed in the 500 Free, the 200 Free, and was also a member of the winning 400 Free relay team.
Loyola's 400 Medley relay team, which was comprised of Stephanie Pelullo, Liz Chlebda, Bridgette Schertle, and Stephanie Werdmann, cruised to victory with a time of 4:34.02 as the Greyhounds once again showed their depth and talent, even from those who didn't post victories.
"I was impressed with swims from Laura Hanlon, Katie Welsh, and Joanna Murphy," said Loeffler. "These three freshman all took second in their events."
The win over Manhattan marks Loyola's third win over a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe this season.
The Greyhounds return to action next Friday night for Day One of the two-day Thomas Murphy Invitational when Loyola welcomes Johns Hopkins, Howard, and McDaniel to the FAC.
