Reeser Wins 500 Free On Day One Of MAAC Championships

Baltimore, Md. - Senior Ryan Reeser defended his 500-yard freestyle title at the MAAC Championships on Thursday at Mangione Aquatic Center. The Greyhounds, who host for the seventh consecutive year, won two events on Day One of the championships.

Reeser swam a 4:34.04 in the final of the 500 Free to win Loyola's first individual title of the conference meet. Last year, he won the race in 4:35.74.

Reeser also teamed up with younger brother Brad Reeser, Drew Crampton and Ernest Verrico to capture the 200-yard freestyle relay. The foursome swam a time of 1:24.53 in the final for the win.

On the women's side Megan Royer tapped in five-hundredths of a second behind Rider's Kellyanne Tomasula in the final of the 50-yard freestyle to finish second overall. Royer posted a time of 24.43 in the event.

The Greyhound women also had a pair of fourth-place showings in Megen Hadley (500 Free) and Melissa White (200 IM). Hadley swam a 5:10.34 in the 500 Free final, while White registered a 2:11.71 in the 200 IM.

The 2007 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships resume competition with Day Two on Friday morning and conclude on Saturday.
