Season-High 10 Score In Women's Lacrosse's Win At Army West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y. - A season-high 10 Greyhounds scored to get the 10th-ranked Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team a 21-7 win over Army West Point in the Patriot League opener Saturday afternoon at Michie Stadium.
 
Senior Taylor VanThof (4 goals, 1 assist), sophomore Sam Fiedler (3g, 2a) and sophomore Livy Rosenzweig (1g, 4a) shared game-high honors of five points each, while senior Amanda Ignacio, junior Emily Cooper, Fiedler and VanThof all contributed hat tricks. Senior Hannah Powers and freshman Jillian Wilson tacked on two goals apiece, and junior Holly Lloyd, sophomore Emily Beier and sophomore Elli Kluegel added one goal each.
 
Manuela Cortes and Jackie Bratton led Army West Point (7-2 overall) with two goals apiece.
 
The Black Knights scored the first two goals of the game, before goals from Kluegel and Powers tied the game, 2-2, at 22:03. Cooper continued Loyola's run, finishing a feed from Fiedler, to give the Greyhounds (4-3) their first lead of the game, 3-2, at 20:20.
 
Army West Point answered to pull even, 3-3, at 18:38, before a five-goal Greyhound run with scores from Fiedler, VanThof Cooper, Powers and Ignacio pushed Loyola ahead 8-3 with 12:48 to go in the first half.
 
The Black Knights halted the run with a goal at 10:53, but goals from Fiedler, Wilson, VanThof and Rosenzweig stretched the Greyhounds' lead to nine, 13-4, at 4:23. Army West Point scored the final goal of the first half to send Loyola into the locker room with a 13-5 advantage.
 
VanThof scored the first and assisted the second goal of the second half to get the Greyhounds a 15-5 lead on Coopers goal at 26:46. Beier made it a three-goal run before Ignacio answered the Black Knights' goal with her second of the game at 19:01. Rosenzweig then found Fiedler for a goal to move Loyola ahead 18-6.
 
Army West Point scored its final goal of the game at the 9:53 mark and Lloyd, Ignacio and Wilson brought the final score to 21-7.
 
In goal for the Greyhounds, senior Kady Glynn (5 saves) and Kaitlyn Larsson (4) each played one half and combined for nine saves.
 
Loyola will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts No. 21 Georgetown at 7 p.m.
