Eleven Greyhounds Score To Get No. 10 Women's Lacrosse 10th Win At Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. - Eleven different Greyhounds contributed to the offense to help the No. 10 Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team to its 10th win of the season and a 21-9 win over Lafayette at Fisher Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Sam Fiedler led all players with a personal-best six points, scoring five goals and adding an assist, and senior Hannah Powers tied a career-high of seven assists for the Greyhounds (10-4 overall, 6-0 Patriot League).

Senior Taylor VanThof, sophomore Elli Kluegel and sophomore Livy Rosenzweig also contributed hat tricks, with Kluegel scoring four goals and VanThof and Rosenzweig finishing with three goals and two assists each. Senior Emily Cooper and sophomore Liz Scott both tacked on two goals, and senior Amanda Ignacio and freshman Jillian Wilson contributed one goal each.

Junior Holly Lloyd and senior Lindsey Ehrhardt rounded out the offense with two and one assist, respectively.

Olivia Cunningham and Emma Novick led the Leopards (5-9, 1-5) with three goals apiece.

Lafayette won the opening draw control, but VanThof caused a turnover and Ehrhardt assisted Cooper on a transition goal to set the tone for the Greyhounds. Fiedler scored after Cooper and then following the Leopards' first goal, added three more points, as she assisted Rosenzweig before scoring two more goals – the first assisted by Powers and the second by Rosenzweig – for a hat trick and a 5-1 Loyola lead by the 21:59 mark.

The Leopards scored the game's next goal, but the Greyhounds used goals from Kluegel, Ignacio, VanThof and Fiedler to pull ahead 9-2 with 13:36 to play in the first half. Lafayette scored two of the next three goals in the game, but the Greyhounds closed out the half with three-unanswered strikes – by Scott, VanThof and Kluegel – to take an 11-4 lead into halftime.

Lafayette struck first out of the break, but Powers gave up a free position shot to assist Rosenzweig for Loyola's first goal. VanThof then assisted Cooper on a transition goal to give the Greyhounds a 15-5 advantage.

After a pair of Leopard goals, the Greyhounds rattled off four-straight with Powers assisting Kluegel, Scott and Fiedler. VanThof's unassisted strike at 11:32 gave her a second hat trick this season and the Greyhounds a 19-7 lead.

Back-to-back goals from Lafayette brought their goal total to nine, while Kluegel and Rosenzweig scored to bring the final tally to 21-9.

Defensively, Ehrhardt, Fiedler, Rosenzweig and Wilson all caused two turnovers, while freshman Katie Detwiler, Fiedler and Powers finished with three ground balls.

The Greyhounds will return home for a pair of games next week as they host Bucknell Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Colgate on Saturday for Senior Day. Opening draw with the Raiders is set for noon.
