BALTIMORE – Duke University built a 3-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and extended it to 8-0 before the 12

Adam Poitras,
Kevin Lindley and
Joey Kamish all scored twice each.
Swindell scored once and had a career-best three assists, while Devereaux matched his career-high with two assists and also had a goal.
Both teams defenses were clicking early as the two goalkeepers combined for nine saves before Duke broke through with unassisted goals by Garrett Leadmon and Nakeie Montgomery at 7:30 and 4:51 in the first quarter. Joey Manown added a goal with 3:19 left in the stanza, and the Blue Devils had a three-goal lead going into the second quarter.
Dyson Williams tallied his first of four goals three minutes, 35 seconds into the second, but Duke did not score again until Montgomery tallied one with 7:38 left. Montgomery scored twice more, wrapped around a Williams goal, and Duke (5-2 overall) was up 8-0 with just over three minutes left in the half.
Lindley put Loyola on the board with 1:43 to go in the quarter when he scored on extra-man off a Swindell assist, and out of the halftime break, Kamish came around a pick at goal-line, split his defender and scored on a sidearm shot to make it 8-2 with 8:39 to play.
Lindley tallied the Greyhounds' next goal after
Riley Cox fed him from 'X,' but Duke countered with a Jordan Ginder goal off the ensuing faceoff to push the advantage to 9-3 with 7:51 left in the third.
Following that, Loyola scored four-straight as
Aidan Olmstead opened the scoring when he took a restart from the end-line with under 10 seconds left on the shot clock. He beat his defender with speed and dove forward to score high at 6:30.
The Greyhounds then had back-to-back man-up goals when
Evan James scored from Devereaux and Poitras tallied one on the doorstep from Swindell, getting Loyola within four, 10-6, going into the fourth quarter.
Less than two minutes into that frame, Kamish split his defender on the left side and got to his right hand for a goal at 13:15 that made it a three-score margin.
Duke, however, tallied three in a row from Manown, Williams and Leadmon, and it was a six-goal margin before Loyola tacked on three more.
Poitras had another on extra-man off a Devereaux assist, and Swindell swept left-to-right to score unassisted with 3:25 left. Devereaux then added his goal off a Swindell assist to provide the final score.
Swindell now has nine goals and seven assists through six games for career-highs in goals and points (16).
With his two goals, Lindley moved into sole possession of sixth-place at Loyola in career goals (114) in only 40 games. He passed Kevin Beach (114, 1990-93) and Tim O'Shea (115, 1995, 1997-99) during the game.
Bailey Savio continued to be a standout on faceoffs, winning 16 of 26 while picking up 11 ground balls.
Cam Wyers caused a career-high four turnovers on defense, and
Ryan McNulty caused two while also holding Duke's second-leading scorer, Owen Caputo, without a point.
