2021 Giving Challenge - Make A Gift!

Dear Greyhounds Nation,

We are so grateful that many aspects of Loyola Athletics were able to resume this semester. In January, our student-athletes not only returned to campus, they also started practice and in-person classes. Throughout the semester, every one of our sport programs are scheduled to return competition.

There is also one other Loyola Greyhounds tradition that we are excited to see back on the calendar…the Loyola Athletics Giving Challenge. 

The annual Loyola Athletics Giving Challenge is our philanthropy-based competition between Greyhounds sport programs to increase overall financial support for student-athletes and strengthen the entire Loyola Athletics community. Last spring, we made the decision to cancel the Giving Challenge out of consideration for the myriad of challenges and uncertainty we were all experiencing. Ultimately, while that was the right decision at the time, it also left us feeling that we had missed out on one of our best opportunities of the year to bring our alumni, families, fans, and friends together to show their spirit and support of their favorite Loyola Greyhounds sport programs.

The energy and pride displayed each year during our annual Giving Challenge is remarkable; this year the financial support we can generate will be more impactful than ever before. As we have shared in updates throughout the year, losses in revenue from decreased NCAA distributions, less opportunity for in-venue sponsorship, and no ticket sales has certainly increased financial pressure on our department and sport programs. However, we know that through fundraising and the Loyola Athletics Giving Challenge we can still make certain our coaches continue to have the resources needed to provide the best possible experiences for our student-athletes, and we can continue building for the bright future ahead!

I truly appreciate the many ways that you show your support for Loyola student-athletes, and I am very excited for the weeks ahead. I look forward to following this year's Giving Challenge as teams vie for the lead, names increase on the donor board, and spirited banter heats up on social media.

Former student-athletes, parents, family, fans, friends, staff, coaches and even current student-athletes can all participate and help the team of their choice win the Giving Challenge.
