Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 14 Women’s Lacrosse Tops Previously Unbeaten No. 24 Drexel, Wins Fourth Straight

BALTIMORE – Livy Rosenzweig matched career-highs in both goals (6) and points (9), while Jillian Wilson added four points and nine draw controls for No. 14 Loyola University Maryland in a 17-12 home victory over Drexel on Sunday.

Sam Fiedler (5 G, 1 A) and Elli Kluegel (4 G, 1 A) also had strong offensive performances for the Greyhounds (4-2) who earned their fourth-consecutive victory while handing the Dragons (5-1) their first setback of the season.

Rosenzweig also matched a career best with three caused turnovers, and she was right behind Wilson with seven draws. The last of her three assists on the afternoon was the 148th of her Loyola career, tying her with Annie Thomas '15 for the program record.

Drexel got off to a quick start, taking a 3-1 lead five minutes into the contest. Fiedler and Kluegel each scored twice during a 5-0 run for the home side which put the Greyhounds in front for the first time.

After a pair of Drexel tallies, another Fiedler strike started a 4-1 stretch to end the half. Holly Lloyd set up Rosenzweig with 16 seconds left on the clock to conclude the run, making it 10-6 Loyola heading into the break.

The Greyhounds then scored the first three goals of the second half to take a commanding seven-goal advantage, and the Dragons would get no closer than four the rest of the way.

Rosenzweig's nine point game was the fifth of her collegiate career and her second this season. She is up to 128 goals in 53 appearances, passing six former Loyola standouts to move up to 16th all-time in program history.

Kaitlyn Larsson finished with seven saves in goal for Loyola, improving her career record to 12-2 between the pipes. Katie Detwiler added two ground balls and two caused turnovers, and she held Drexel's Karson Harris, who entered the weekend ranked second nationally in goals scored (24), to just one goal on three shots.

Wilson's nine draws were the most by a Loyola player this season, as she finished one shy of a career high. The Greyhounds had an overall 17-14 edge on draws, including a 11-3 margin in the second half.

Fiedler recorded her sixth career five-goal game, while Kluegel's five points matched a career best.

Loyola returns to Patriot League play next weekend, traveling to Bucknell for a 1 p.m. road matchup on Saturday.
