BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Army West Point men's tennis team used two doubles victories and wins in three singles matches to secure a 4-0 victory over Loyola University Maryland in the Patriot League Quarterfinals at Lehigh's Ulrich Tennis Center.
The Black Knights picked up the doubles point as A.J. Woodman and Thomas Lake got past
Skyler Gates and
Benny Glezer, 6-2, at No. 1, and Diego Huttepain and Sam Eden defeated
Matt Cardano and
Oliver Davey, 6-0, at No. 2.
Edik Pribitkin and
Nick Haggar were tied, 3-3, with Army West Point's David Gorshein and Sam Haikal, in the No. 3 doubles contest when it was halted as the point was decided.
In singles, Woodman beat Glezer, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2, and Gorshein was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Davey at No. 5. Jack Huarte defated
Colin Corsini at No. 6, and the Black Knights finished off the match.
Skyler Gates was leading Huttepain, 6-4, 6-6 at No. 1 singles, and Cardano was looking to draw even with Eden at No. 4 when the match was won by the Black Knights. Eden squeaked by in the first set, 7-6 (3), but Cardano was leading the second, 3-2.
