BALTIMORE –
Elli Kluegel became the 32nd player in program history to reach 100 career goals, and
Jillian Wilson scored a career-high five times during a 17-6 victory for Loyola University Maryland over Furman on Sunday.
Both Wilson and Kluegel led the way with six points overall for the Greyhounds (9-2), whose nine-game winning streak is the program's longest since a 16-game run in 2015.
Livy Rosenzweig added five points (1 G, 4 A) and nine draws for Loyola, which emphatically halted an eight-game winning streak for the visiting Paladins (11-4).
All five of Wilson's goals came in the first half, as Loyola raced out to a 12-2 lead during the opening 30 minutes. She scored three times in the first 3:55 of the contest, and also added a team-high three caused turnovers, three ground balls and four draw controls.
Kluegel's milestone marker came with 14:09 remaining in regulation on the last of her five goals for the afternoon. That matched a career-high, while her six points were a new career best.
Rosenzweig (9),
Katie Detwiler (6) and Wilson (4) helped Loyola finish with a commanding 19-8 advantage in draw controls. The Greyhounds won 12 of the first 14 draws to take control of the game early on.
Emily Beier (2 G) added her first career multi-goal game, while
Emily Wills (1 G, 3 A),
Liz Scott,
Anna Ruby and
Sarah Engle chipped in solo strikes. Engle's goal, set up by
Regan Kielmeyer with 4:17 remaining, was her first at Loyola.
Kaitlyn Larsson made one save while surrendering just two goals in the first half, and
Amber Bustard made three stops over the final 30 minutes in goal.
Meaghan Quinn matched Wilson for the team lead with three ground balls, and she held Furman's leading scorer Kyra LaMotte (52 G overall) to a single goal on four shots this afternoon.
The Greyhounds, who are a perfect 5-0 in Patriot League play this season, will host the conference's Final Four for a seventh-consecutive season. Loyola will take on the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds in the North Division in a semifinal at Ridley on Thursday, May 6.
