BALTIMORE –
Daniel Fitzpatrick has been named to the newly created role of diversity, equity and inclusion associate for athletics at Loyola University Maryland where he will continue in his full-time role as assistant director for student-athlete support services.
In announcing the new role,
Donna M. Woodruff, Loyola's assistant vice president and director of athletics, noted how Fitzpatrick's position will assist Greyhounds Athletics in forming a comprehensive focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
"I am thrilled that Daniel has agreed to serve in this newly-created role and will help Greyhounds Athletics move forward in our commitment to addressing issues of social justice and discrimination," Woodruff said. "We will benefit greatly from his passion and dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with him as we work toward an inclusive environment that accepts, appreciates and truly values all members of our One Hound Family".
Fitzpatrick is entering his fourth year at Loyola in the Office of Student-Athlete Support Services where he also serves as a Title IX intake officer for the University. Prior to his current role, he also served as a life skills advisor at Austin Peay, a compliance intern at Notre Dame and a media relations intern at Tennessee State.

Outside of Loyola, Fitzpatrick is the founder and president of Depth Chart Database, a service which helps university athletic departments identify qualified people of color for open positions within college athletics.
During the 2021-22 academic year, Fitzpatrick will work to support and create DEI groups, initiatives and partnerships involving student-athletes, staff, and administrators. He will lead presentations for members of the Greyhounds community, build connections with campus-wide DEI offices and initiatives, and will engage with external offices including the NCAA and Patriot League.
