NEWTON, Mass. - Third-seeded Boston College outscored the sixth-seeded Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team 5-1 in the second quarter and the Greyhounds were unable to recover, as the Eagles held on for a 20-13 win in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday afternoon at the Newton Campus Lacrosse and Soccer Field.
With the win, the Eagles (18-3) advance to the NCAA Semifinals, while the Greyhounds' magical season comes to a close with a school-record in wins and a 20-2 overall record, a sixth Patriot League Championship, an NCAA record for consecutive conference games won at 66-straight, and their first trip to the NCAA quarterfinals since 2015.

Georgia Latch led the Greyhounds with four points in the game, tallying her eighth hat trick of the season and assisting one other goal, while graduate student
Elli Kluegel tacked on three goals for her eighth hat trick of the season and 26th of her career.

Livy Rosenzweig helped Loyola dominate the draw, 24-12, as she won a game-high 12 draws and senior
Jillian Wilson won eight. Rosenzweig also added two goals in the game and Wilson added one.

Sydni Black also contributed two goals, while freshman
Chase Boyle had one goal and one assist, and senior
Katie Detwiler tacked on one goal. Graduate student
Sam Fiedler rounded out the scoring with two assists.

Boston College scored the first two goals of the game to take a 2-0 lead by the 12:45 mark. Black converted a free-position goal to get the Greyhounds going before Fiedler found Rosenzweig in front of the cage for a player-down goal at the 8-minute mark to tie the game at 2-2. Black then fired her second goal into the back of the net to get Loyola its first lead, 3-2, at the 4:47 mark.
The Eagles responded with back-to-back goals to regain the lead with 1:59 to play in the opening quarter, but a laser from Latch as the possession clock expired evened the game at four with 20 seconds to go. A free position goal by BC at the buzzer sent them into the second quarter with a one goal advantage, 5-4.
Boston College carried the momentum into the second quarter, scoring four more goals before the Greyhounds were able to stick a shot into the back of the net at 11:09, as Latch drew a double team and found Kluegel wide open in front of the goal to move the score to 9-5.
An Eagle goal just 32 seconds before halftime sent them into the break with a 10-5 advantage.
Latch started the second-half scoring, but the Eagles got the goal back at 13:43 to move the home team ahead 11-6. A three-goal run from the Greyhounds, with goals from Kluegel, Wilson and Boyle, pulled Loyola within two, 11-9, at the 8:56 mark, but the Eagles closed out the quarter with three-unanswered to start the fourth quarter with a 14-9 advantage.
Rosenzweig wasted no time trying to spark the Greyhounds' offense in the fourth quarter, putting away a pass from Fiedler less than 20 seconds into play. The Eagles responded with back-to-back goals before Latch converted a free position attempt at 9:11, moving the score to 16-11.
Kluegel answered the Eagles' next goal and then following another BC goal, Detwiler won the ensuing draw control and took it to goal herself, scoring her second goal of the tournament and making the score 18-13 with 4:31 to play. Consecutive goals from Boston College closed out the game with the Eagles on top, 20-13.
