Sydni Black tied a career-best with 7 goals, as the Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team used a fast start in the first half to win 20-6 over Colgate University.
Black had a game-high 7 goals, while
Chase Boyle had 4 goals, 2 assists, and a career-best 17 draw controls. Alana Wray posted a career-high 3 points on 2 goals and 1 assist. Seven other Greyhounds recorded a goal in the game.
Lauren Spence recorded 4 saves on the afternoon, while
Kennedy Buntrock recorded a pair of saves in relief.
Sydni Black started the scoring for the Greyhounds (10-1 overall, 5-0 Patriot League), as she showed of her speed to get past her defender for the goal. Black would then add another goal, as Loyola took a early 2-0 lead.
Regan Kielmeyer increased the Loyola lead to three, as she took it herself and shot high-to-low for the goal.
The Raiders (1-10 overall, 1-3 Patriot League) responded with a pair of unanswered goals, scored by Lauren Thompson and Kyra Lucey, as they trimmed their deficit down to one goal.
Chase Boyle responded with her first of the day, assisted by
Catie Corolla, as Boyle shot high-to-low for her first of the day.
Georgia Latch would also get on the board shortly after Boyle's goal, as she blew past her defender fired it in, as the Greyhounds led 5-2 with 8:36 remaining in the first.
Sydni Black followed it up with her third goal of the quarter, as
Chase Boyle also added her second goal, as the Greyhounds extended their lead to five goals.
Anna Ruby followed it up with a solo goal of her own, as she shot high-to-low for her first of the day.
Alanna Wray capped off the big first quarter with her second goal of the season, as she took it herself for the goal, as Loyola led 9-2 at the end of the first quarter.
Sydni Black and
Chase Boyle continued their strong start in the second quarter, as they both added goals early in the quarter, as Loyola led 11-2 with 12:59 remaining.
After a Colgate goal,
Alanna Wray scored her second of the day, as she once again took it herself for the goal.
Sydni Black added another goal just over a minute later, as she scored her fifth of the day.
After coming off a defensive stop,
Lily Osborne took it the length of the field, before finding
Elisa Faklaris for the goal and Osborne's first career assist.
With 4:25 remaining,
Alanna Wray found a cutting
Chase Boyle, who finished off the play with a behind-the-back shot for the goal.
The Greyhounds added another pair of goals to end the first half, as they led 17-3.
The pace of play slowed in the second half, as both teams looked to the bench in the second half, as the Greyhounds won 20-6.
Loyola controlled the possession in the game, as they won 24 of 29 draw controls in the game, including 17 from
Chase Boyle.
The Greyhounds will be back in action next weekend, as they will travel to face Lafayette at 4:00 PM.
