Perros Viajeros – Men’s Lacrosse Travels To Spain

Loyola University Maryland men’s lacrosse will be on the road for the next week-plus, starting when the Greyhounds board a trans-Atlantic flight to Madrid, Spain, on Wednesday, May 29. The cultural immersion trip is made possible through generous philanthropic support to the program.

The Greyhounds will land in Madrid on Thursday and spend their first two full days in Span in the country’s capital. Loyola student-athletes and coaches will visit many of the city’s cultural areas, sample their first Spanish cuisine, see the Royal Palace and much more.

After the time in the country’s most-populous city, the Greyhounds will head to the Costa Blanca and the City of Alicante. Loyola will play in the Mediterranean Lacrosse Festival against Spanish club teams while in Alicante. The festival games will be played in the Sixes format, and the Greyhounds will also hold a clinic for local youth after the games.

The last leg of the tour will take the Greyhounds to Barcelona, the largest city in Catalonia which is home to rich history and culture, as well as Sagrada Familia, the famous cathedral. The team will also visit Montserrat where St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Jesuit order, spent time as a pilgrim as he dedicated his life to the service of the Catholic faith.

Throughout the trip, players and coaches will have the opportunity to learn more from Spanish tour guides and locals, take part in cultural and adventure experiences, eat traditional Spanish foods and continue to grow in their lacrosse nad educational experiences.
