BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland senior
Joe Hayburn was named the Patriot League Men's Swimmer of the Week for the seventh time in his career on Tuesday after setting three pool records in a Patriot League dual meet victory on Saturday.
Hayburn put his name on the record board three times at Lafayette's Weinstein Natatorium, swimming the fastest times ever at the facility in the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes while also clocking the fastest time in the 100-yard freestyle to lead off the 400-yard relay.
He won both backstroke events with times of 47.30 in the 100 and 1:45.63 in the 200. He won the shorter race by four seconds and the longer by more than nine.
Hayburn led off the winning 400 free relay with a split of 44.95 seconds for his third pool record. He also split 21.93 seconds in the 50 backstroke with the opening leg of Loyola's winning 200 medley relay.
