BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland freshman
Zach Berger was named the Patriot League Men's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, a day after he had the best finish of his collegiate career.
Berger shot matching rounds of even-par 70 in the final two rounds of the Qubein Cup at Sedgefield Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, coupling those with a 1-over 71 in Monday's first round to finish in a tie for third in the 74-player field.
Berger had just seven bogeys and a double bogey at the tournament, finishing tied for fourth with 39 pars over the 54 holes.
The award is the first of Berger's career, and he is the third Loyola player to earn Patriot League Player of the Week honors this season, joining
Eli Spaulding and fellow freshman
Matthew Simpson.
