Biography
2019-20 (Sophomore): Competed in one tournament and finished tied for 62nd at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate with a three-round 229 (78-77-74).
2018-19 (Freshman): Played two tournaments and six rounds...Finished the season with a 77.5 stroke average...Placed 78th in the Doc Gimmler with a score of 235 (76-78-81)...Shot a season best at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate to place 54th with a score of 230 (75-72-83).
Before Loyola: Earned three varsity letters in golf at Gonzaga College High School outside of Washington, D.C...Team captain as a senior...Also a Washington Post first-team All-Met selection as a senior...Team won WCAC Championship in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and went undefeated in WCAC League matches those three years...Team Metro Champions in 2016 and 2017...McCarthy participated in the Williamson Cup in 2016 and 2017, and played for the Maryland team in the Capital Cup through 2015, 2016 and 2017. He also finished fourth at the MAPGA Denny McCarthy Junior Invitational, fourth at the Frank Emmet Schoolboy Championship, 11th at the Bobby Gorin Memorial, ninth at the Junior PGA Championship Sectional Qualifier and was top-20 at the AJGA - Amino VITAL at Treburn Country Club.
Personal: Son of Mike and Kim McCarthy...Has four siblings; Patrick, Molly, Sean and Ryan...Father played golf at James Madison...His cousin, Ryan McCarthy '12, played golf at Loyola...Cousin Denny McCarthy played golf at UVa and is on the PGA Tour.
