Took a medical retirement from his playing career prior to the 2020 season and transitioned to the staff where he serves as an undergraduate assistant coach.

2019 (Sophomore): Filled a huge need for the Greyhounds as a backup faceoff midfielder despite having no experience at the position prior to fall practice... Saw action in three games and went 3 of 6 at the 'X' with two ground balls... Won one of his two restarts against Navy and his only faceoff against Boston University... Worked against Bailey Savio in practice on a daily basis as Savio won 246 faceoffs and had a Patriot League and school record 141 ground balls during the season.

2018 (Freshman): Made his career debut at Lehigh (4/7) and also saw playing time against Boston University (4/14) during the regular-season.

Before Loyola: Earned eight varsity – four each in football and lacrosse – at Xavier High School in Middletown, Connecticut… Scored 45 goals and had 10 assists for the Falcons as a senior in 2017, earning All-Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) honors for the third-straight year… Also was a Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) All-State honoree as a sophomore, junior and senior…Named All-Area by the New Haven Register all three seasons… Scored 31 goals and had 21 assists as a sophomore in 2015 and did not play due to injury as a junior… Helped Xavier win the SCC Championship in 2015 and was a part of the Connecticut Class LL Football State Championship team in 2014… Played club lacrosse for CT Cardinals Black.

Personal: Collin McCarthy… Son of Joyce and David McCarthy… Has two siblings, Braedon and Grace… Honors student at Xavier… Father, David, was a football and baseball player at Colby College.
