Bryan Woolson, a noted leader in the Baltimore strength and conditioning scene, joined the Loyola University Maryland men’s lacrosse team as its strength and conditioning coach in July 2023.
Bryan’s passion for challenging athletes to compete on field and in the weight room was felt through the process,” said Loyola Head Coach Charley Toomey. “We welcome Bryan and his family to the Loyola and the men’s lacrosse program.”
Woolson has been the regional director of MedStar Health Sports Performance in Harford County (Md.) since July 2014, and he served as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Johns Hopkins University women’s lacrosse team since 2013; prior to working with women’s lacrosse, he was served with the Blue Jays’ field hockey team from 2012-13.
He has worked in the lacrosse strength and conditioning sphere for many years, previously serving at Boys’ Latin School of Maryland from 2012-15 where he helped the Lakers win a MIAA title, a national title and complete two undefeated regular seasons.
Woolson also has worked in strength and conditioning with NEMS Lacrosse Club since 2013, and he has been a speaker at the USA Lacrosse Convention. He authored a chapter in the book “Building The Modern Defender” with Loyola alumna Janine Tucker ’89, the former head women’s lacrosse coach at Johns Hopkins (1994-2022).
Woolson, who was a three-year starter at running back for his alma mater, Salisbury University, broke into the field in following his graduation in 2011 as an intern with Jay Dyer.
Woolson earned his Bachelor of Education in health and physical education/fitness from Salisbury, and he holds multiple certifications in strength and conditioning.
