Biography
2017-2018 (Senior):
- Finished his career at Loyola as the most-decorated swimmer in program history
- Earned Patriot League Championships Male Swimmer of the Meet honors after winning the 100 and 200 breaststrokes
- Named the Loyola Male Senior Athlete of the Year and earned All-Patriot League First Team honors for the third-straight season
- Qualified for the NCAA Championships in both breaststroke events
- Finished 17th in both preliminaries, just missing the finals
- Swam a personal-best and school-record time of 1:54.42 in the 200 breaststroke at the NCAA meet after going 52.59 in the 100
- Won the Patriot League title in the 100 breaststroke with a school and League record time of 52.51
- Came back the next day to win the 200 breaststroke in a time of 1:55.69
- Also finished eighth in the 200 individual medley (1:48.93) at the Patriot League meet
- Was undefeated all eight of his pre-NCAA 100 breaststroke events and won seven of eight 200 breaststroke races
2016-17 (Junior)Â
• Placed 2nd in the 200 breast at Patriot League Championships
• Also, placed 15th in the 200 IM at PLC, while swimming at best time (1:50.48)
• Was a part of the 200 medley relay that placed 4th at PLC
• Was a part of the 400 free relay that placed 6th at PLC
• Swam a season-best time in the 50 free (23.20) against VMI
High School: Student athlete at Smithtown High School East…Was the fastest 14-yr old in the state freshman year with the 100yd breaststroke…4th in the state junior year…Olympic trialist 1 and 2 breast meters, state records 1 and 2 breast meters… Senior year all American, all state, all county, all league, league, county, state champion and state record holder for the 100yd breaststroke… Swam for Team Suffolk who came in 6th at the national championship senior year.
Personal:Â Uncle James Ettari played D-1 football at the Citadel.
