With 2:01 left in regulation play, senior Steven Coleman knocked in the game-tying goal, but only 45 seconds later, Saint Peter's scored the game-winner, ending Loyola's bid for a third straight NCAA tournament appearance.

The game's first goal came on a counter attack at 14:09 when the Peacocks' Carlos Villacres found Rinaldo Chambers streaking down field. Chambers placed the ball just out of freshman Justin Chelland's reach for the early lead. Chelland quickly recovered and ended the first half with two saves.

The seconds half, much like the first, was played at a furious pace. With the clock winding down and Saint Peter's packing in the defense, Vinnie Piscopo crossed a ball that finally landed in Coleman's possession. Coleman blasted a shot into the upper right corner of the cage and the game was knotted at 1-1.

The momentum had shifted and Loyola seemed to be in control. However, just like the roller coaster rides at Disney, after experiencing joyful exuberance at the top, the Greyhounds would reach the lowest of lows very quickly in Orlando.

At 88:44 new life was given to the Peacocks on a penalty call. Sylvers Owusu capitalized with a penalty shot and score, giving Saint Peter's a 2-1 win and its first MAAC tournament championship.

Loyola ends the 2003 campaign with an overall record of 11-7-3. Coleman, along with freshmen Omar Alfonso and Gabriel Ortega were all named to the MAAC all-tournament team.
