Golf Takes Sixth At St. Bonnie-Keenan Invitational

OLEAN, NY - Loyola's men's golf team finished with a two-day total of 609 after firing a final-round score of 302 on Monday to grab a tie for sixth-place at the St. Bonaventure-Keenan Invitational held on Bartlett Country Club's par-70, 6,360-yard course.

The Greyhounds finished 14 strokes behind playoff-winner St. Bonaventure and second-place finisher Duquesne as head coach Tom Beidleman's squad ended the tournament tied with Cornell and Rider. Two of Loyola's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) rivals -- Siena (3rd place, 596) and Niagara (5th place, 608) -- placed ahead of the defending conference champion Greyhounds while Seton Hall took fourth place, shooting a 604.

Loyola defeated Drexel (9th, 612), Bucknell (10th, 613), St. Francis (PA) and Robert Morris (T-11th, 617), Colgate (13, 625), and Canisius (14th, 627).

Loyola was led for the second time this year by freshman Will Shriver, who fired an opening-round even-par score of 70 and came back to shoot a Round Two 78 to tie for eighth place overall. Shriver's two-day total of 148 tied him for the fifth best score of the tournament.

The Bonnies' John Anderson won the individual title with his two-day score of one-under, 139 (68-71=139).

The Greyhounds placed two others in the top-25 as T.J. Shuart (77-73=150) managed to tie for 16th, while Scott Zielinski (76-76=152) slid himself into a tie for 22nd. Mike Carroll earned a tie for 53rd-place and Tommy Villani took a tie for 68th to round out Loyola's field.

The Bonnies' John Anderson won the individual title with his two-day score of one-under, 139 (68-71=139).

The Greyhounds return to action Saturday, September 27th when they head to Ithaca, NY for the Cornell Invitational.
