Greyhounds Place 26th At NCAA West Regional

Sunriver, Ore. - The Greyhounds shot a 321 on the third and final day of the NCAA West Regional and placed 26th overall at the Crosswater Club in Sunriver, Oregon. Loyola, which placed 27th at last year's West Regional, move up one spot as they close this season with a three-round total of 952.

Senior Jeff O'Brien, who led Loyola on Day One with a two-over par 74, rebounded from an 83 on Friday to shoot a team-best 78 on Saturday. The senior closed out his collegiate career with a 235 as freshman Will Shriver shot a 231 with his round of 80 on Saturday. Shriver placed 88th among all individuals at the NCAA Regional Championship.

T.J. Shuart fired an 81 to finish with consistent rounds of 80-79-81 while David Atkinson shot two rounds of 82 after firing an 85 in Friday's opening round. Senior Scott Zielinski shot a 54-hole total of 258, dropping with his round of 93 on Saturday.

The course played much harder for the final round, with the average score at 77.64 per player, compared to 75.11 and 75.31 in the first two rounds. Top-seeded UCLA trailed ninth-seed New Mexico a majority of the day , but pulled out a one-stroke victory at with at 1-over par 865 after a final round team-score of 294, tying Pepperdine for the low score of the day.
