Women's Lacrosse Rolls over George Mason, 15-3

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's lacrosse team bounced back from a three game skid Wednesday afternoon as they rolled past George Mason, 15-3 at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field. The Greyhounds posted impressive numbers all day long to improve their record to 3-5 while the Patriots fell to 1-6.

The Greyhounds 10 unanswered first half goals began when Kristin McKay forced a GMU turnover on the defensive end and accelerated down field were she passed the ball off to a waiting Maura Kenny at 4:35 for the initial tally. The Greyhounds continued to control possession with a free-position from Kate McHarg at 7:25 for a 2-0 lead. Senior Rachel Shuck made the score 3-0 with her goal, assisted by Kristen Stone at 9:33. Sydney Greene gave Loyola a 4-0 advantage with her unassisted goal at 11:08. Scoring took a brief intermission before the Greyhounds started things up again, scoring six goals to close the half with a 10-0 lead. Kenny added a second goal in that run while McHarg tallied two more and Sydney Greene and Emily Lawrence each added one.

Shuck started the second half with her second goal of the day for an 11-0 score before Mason got on the board at 37:07 on a goal from Kristy Manas for the 11-1 mark. That wouldn't last long however as the Greyhounds rattled off the next four goals for a 15-1 lead 47:54 into the contest. Mason would nab the final two goals for the 15-3 final.

McHarg led in goals with four while Greene added three. Shuck added two goals and four assists while Filippelli and Kenny each nabbed two goals as well. Lawrence and Sarah Boggs each recorded one goal while McKay and Stone had one assist.

Manas, Brandi Evans and Jennifer Thomas each scored a goal for the Patriots while Becky Lee and Melissa Venturi tallied assists.

Loyola's keepers stopped a total of 15 shots with Kim Lawton recorded six saves in the first and Cindy Nicolaus stopping nine shots in the second. GMU Meg Dentler recorded nine saves in goal.

The Greyhounds remain at Geppi-Aikens Field as they host Penn State on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00.
