Baltimore, Md. - Loyola's men's and women's tennis teams each suffered a non-conference loss to Lafayette at home on Thursday evening. The men drop to 10-8 overall with their 7-0 loss while the women fall 6-1 and now sport an 8-6 overall record.

In women's competition, Meagan McKenna and Christi Lazar took the No. 2 doubles match by an 8-5 score, but the Leopards rallied for an 8-5 win at No. 3 and went into singles' competition with a one-point advantage.

Lazar won a tough three-set No. 3 singles match, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, setting the tone for a very tight singles' competition. Stefanie Clay lost a heartbreaker at No. 5, falling 6-2 in the first set, winning the second set by the same 6-2 score and then dropping a 7-5 third set for the match. Caitlin LaRocco, who played at No. 6 singles, also took her opponent to three sets, winning the first 6-4 before dropping 6-3, 6-4 sets.

On the men's side, Trevor McDonough won his first set at No. 1 singles (6-3), but could not hold on in the superset tiebreaker, giving Lafayette a 2-0 lead. Nick Bowers competed at No. 2 singles while Dan Schiemel played at No. 3.
