Women's Tennis Competes at D.C. Metro Championships

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior Christi Lazar advanced to the semifinals of the Flight "B" Singles bracket as the Greyhound women's tennis team competed in the 2005 D.C. Metro Championships Presented by Georgetown University this weekend.

After receiving a bye in the opening round, Lazar defeated third-seeded Madhuri Jha of George Washington in a thrilling 6-0, 2-6, 10-8 victory. Lazar's run ended in the semifinals when she lost to top-seeded Kristin Dew of Georgetown University in straight sets.

Freshman Stefanie Menzano won a match in the Flight "C" Singles consolation bracket with a three-set victory over Towson's Chiemi Okamoto before falling to Mary O'Loughlin in straight sets.

The Greyhounds return to action next Monday afternoon when they host local rival Morgan State University at 3:00 p.m.
