Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's soccer team earned a win in its home opener with a 3-1 score over visiting Georgetown Monday. The Greyhounds improve to 2-2-0 on the season while handing the Hoyas (2-1-1) their first loss of the season.

The first half was defense laden until Ty Glenn passed the ball off from the right corner of the box to an open Naomi Daniels. Daniels had just enough time to get the shot off to beat the Hoyas keeper 22:41 into the game. Just under four minutes later Carolyn Kennington scored on a near identical play with Glenn also providing the assist for a 2-0 score.

That score would hold into the second half until Ashley Kramer's initial shot was saved but was knocked loose from keeper Jade Higgins hands. Kennington gained possession of the ball and was able to get her shot past Higgins for a 3-0 lead 55:46 into the game.

Georgetown was able to get a goal on the board late in the second half on Elaina Filauro's hard shot from 15 feet out in he 86th minute of play for the 3-1 final.

The Greyhounds held a 16-7 advantage on shots. Freshman Amanda Piccirilli, in her first appearance of the year, made four saves while Higgins stopped eight shots for the Hoyas.

Loyola returns to the road as it travels to Florida to face the University of Florida on September 9 and the University of Central Florida on September 11.
