Women's Tennis Sweeps Morgan

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola women's tennis team defeated Morgan State by a 7-0 score at the Butler Courts on Wednesday afternoon. The win evens Loyola's dual-meet fall record at 1-1, giving the young `Hounds their first sweep of the season.

The Greyhounds jumped out front by winning the doubles point with a pair of 8-3 victories. Freshmen Caitlyn Day and Stephanie Dunn won their match at No. 1 doubles, while freshmen Kerri Swan and Lauren Cassle clinched the point with a victory at No. 2.

In singles' competition, the Greyhounds dominated play with straight set wins at Nos. 1-4. Day won the No. 1 singles match, 6-2, 6-2; Swan captured the No. 2 match, 6-2, 6-3 while Dunn (6-2, 6-0) and Cassle (6-2, 6-2) won the No. 3 and No. 4 matches in straight sets.

The No. 5 singles point went to freshman Suzanne Lee, who held a 4-3 edge before Morgan's No. 5 defaulted with a leg injury.

Loyola wraps up the fall portion of their 2006-07 season schedule at the Hampton Roads Collegiate in Newport News, Va. next Friday-Sunday, October 13-15.
