BALTIMORE - Junior goalkeeper Milos Kocic made three saves, and the Loyola defense held William & Mary scoreless for 110 minutes in a 0-0 non-conference tie on Wednesday afternoon at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field.
The Tribe (2-0-2) had 14 shots, but only three were directed on goal, and Kocic saved all three. The shutout was the fourth of the season for the Greyhounds (5-0-1) and the 11th straight home shutout.
Loyola managed 10 shots in the match, but Daniel Ankrah's first-half strike was the only one on goal. Andrew McAdams finished with one save for the Tribe.
Doug McBride and Nathaniel Baako each had shots for William & Mary in the first overtime, but McBride's went wide left, and Baako's was blocked by the Loyola defense.
The Greyhounds recorded the only second overtime shot, a blast by Jamie Darvill that was blocked.
Both teams had quality second-half chances, but neither could penetrate the net. With 27:28 remaining, sophomore midfielder Eddie Dines took a powerful shot was just wide of the net and Kocic needed to come out from in front of his net to stop a threat by the Tribe's Price Thomas with eight-and-a-half minutes left.
The tie extended a 14-match unbeaten stretch for the Greyhounds and also kept in tact a 14-match home unbeaten run.
Loyola continues non-conference action on Saturday, September 20, at 1 o'clock when it travels to Emmitsburg, Md., to face Mount St. Mary's.
