Final Stats
Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola University Maryland women's volleyball team lost to Niagara University, 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-19), today, at Reitz Arena. The Greyhounds (8-15, 2-7 MAAC) will compete tomorrow against Canisius College at 2 p.m.
Sophomore Katie Dircks led the way for the Greyhounds with six kills and a .200 hitting percentage. Freshman Jac Bullock had five kills and six digs and senior Nina Camaioni added five kills and 12 digs.
Sophomore Aubrey Kirven had 24 assists for the Greyhounds. Loyola had five serving aces to four serving errors.
Leading the way for Niagara is Hannah Hedrick who recorded nine kills for the match.
In the first set, it was all the Purple Eagles who took an early 8-2 lead. The Greyhound were able to come within two at 16-14 but would only score four more points before Niagara closed the set, 25-18. Loyola had a -.091 hitting percentage to the Purple Eagles .071.
In the second set, Niagara and the Greyhounds were only a point difference at 10-9 until the Greyhounds took a two point lead with a service ace by Janet Pressler and a kill by Nina Camaioni. But Niagara had an answer and took an eight point lead at 21-13 and only let Loyola answer with one more point before closing the set 25-14. Loyola had a .200 hitting percentage to the Purple Eagles .455.
In the third set, Loyola took an early four point lead at 9-5 but Niagara answered back by tying up the set at 10. The set went back and fourth until the score was tied at 17 and the Purple Eagles took four point lead. Niagara finished the set 25-19 and had a .467 hitting percentage to the Greyhounds .303.
