Final Stats

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Sophomore Alyssa Sutherland had a career-high eight points as the Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team lost to Pittsburgh today 73-45 at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Junior Miriam McKenzie added 12 points and six rebounds for the Greyhounds (0-5). Graduate student Erica DiClemente recorded 11 points and sophomore Katie Sheahin had eight.

Senior Meredith Tolley led on the boards with eight rebounds.

Pitt had five players in double digits with Shayla Scott and Brittaney Thomas leading the way for the Panthers each recording 15 points.

The Greyhounds scored the first two points of the night off of a lay-up by Erica DiClemente but Pitt went up by two at 10-8 with a couple of free throw shots. Loyola answered to tie the game at 10 with a lay-in by DiClemente. Then the Greyhounds then went up by two with a jumper by Miriam McKenzie.

The game was tied at 14 before the Panthers went on a six point run that was ended by a Nicole Krusen three pointer. The biggest lead going into half was 15 but a free throw and jumper by Alyssa Sutherland cut the game to 12.

The Greyhounds went into half with a score of 39-27.

In the second half it was all the Panthers. Loyola came within 12 with a jumper by Katie Sheahin at 49-37 but that wasn't enough for Pitt. The biggest lead for the Panthers was 31 points at 71-40.

The Greyhounds will compete Wednesday at Reitz Arena against Bucknell at 7 p.m.
