Flushing, N.Y. - Women's tennis put in a valiant effort Saturday afternoon but was narrowly edged by No. 2-seeded Marist in the semifinal round of the 2010 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tennis Championship at the National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.

The third-seeded Greyhounds fell 4-3 to the Red Foxes with the match coming down to just the fifth singles set.

The fourth-seeded men lost their semifinal match to top-seeded Marist, going down 4-0.

The women had the match all tied up with just the third set of the No. 5 singles tilt left to play. Judy Lite won the first set 7-5 but Jeanie Lukin came back to win the second 6-2. In the heated third set, Lukin jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Lite came back to make the score 4-3. But Lukin overtook her, winning the next two.

The women will end the 2009-2010 season with a 13-6 overall record while the men will end at 12-6.
