Tennis Records Dual Sweeps Over Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Greyhounds put in two strong performances Monday afternoon in Lawrenceville, N.J., as both the men and women swept Rider with scores of 7-0 to close out a four-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference road stretch.

The men are now 2-2 in conference play and 8-5 overall, while the women are 3-1 in the MAAC and moved to 11-4 overall.

Starting off, the men easily overtook the Broncs to win the doubles point. In No. 1 doubles, Keyan Sanai and J. Pierce Norton won 8-2 against Will Haight and Ryan Carpenter. In No. 2 doubles, Dan D'Agostino and Kevin Zingler defeated Robert Olson and Milos Milosovici 8-4 and Matt McDaniel and Bobby Gorczakowski closed out with an 8-6 win over Chris Esposito and Drew Laverty in No. 3 doubles.

Leading 1-0 coming into singles, Sanai pulled out a tough win in three sets to take the No. 1 singles match. Sanani won 6-1, 6-7 (7), 6-4 against Haight.

The Greyhounds won the next five in straight sets for the 7-0 win.

Norton then defeated Marc Ashed 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles tilt. Zingler defeated Carpenter 6-2, 6-0 and McDaniel took down Esposito 6-0, 6-2 in Nos. 2 and 3 singles.

Gorczakowski and Jamie Russo closed out with wins over Laverty and Olson in Nos. 5 and 6 singles. Gorczakowski beat Laverty by a score of 6-3, 6-3 and Russo won 6-1, 6-2.

The women had similar success, shutting the Broncs out in straight sets.

In No. 1 doubles, Rachel Janasek and Kerri Swan started the `Hounds off with an 8-2 win over Kristina Paich and Allison Clay.

Joy Johnson and Andie Keyser-Baker followed up with an 8-2 win over Marly Roche and Tricia Ashmore in No. 2 doubles and Caitlyn Day and Judy Lite defeated Mallory Garbaravage and Danielle White 8-0.

Janasek again started Loyola out with a win in No. 1 singles by defeating Paich 6-2, 6-3. Roche then fell to Swan 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 2 tilt and Ashmore fell to Johnson 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 3 tilt.

Keyser-Baker and Lite defeated Garbaravage and White by identical scores of 6-1, 6-0 in Nos. 4 and 5 and Day ended the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Amanda Matticks.

The `Hounds will be back in action and back in Baltimore Wednesday afternoon when they are set to square off against Mount St. Mary's at 3 p.m., on the Butler Courts.
