BALTIMORE - With the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team tied, 3-3, with Fordham University on Wednesday afternoon, Rachel Janasek rallied from a first-set loss for a No. 1 singles win to clinch a 4-3 victory for the Greyhounds.

Janasek lost the first set, 6-4, to Angelika Dabu, but the reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year came back to win the final two sets, 6-3, 6-4, to win the clinching point.

Loyola entered singles play up a point after winning two of three doubles matches. Scarlett Hoy and Judy Lite teamed to defeat Hanna Fritzinger and Sarah Tremaine, 8-0, in No. 2 doubles, and Tiffany Ash and Andie Keyser-Baker beat Brittany Boyle and Jennifer Mullen, 8-1, in the third slot.

Fordham, however, got on a roll in singles action, winning in the second, third and fifth spots. Fiocca topped Sabrina Fedele, 6-4, 6-1, in No. 2 singles, and Fritzinger defeated Hoy, 6-3, 6-0, in No. 3. Boyle won a tiebreaker in the second set to edge Lite, 6-3, 7-6 (2), in No. 5 singles.

Johnson picked up a point in No. 4 singles, beating Tremaine, 6-1, 6-1, and Ash toppled Mullen, 6-0, 6-2, setting the stage for Janasek's clinching match.

The Greyhounds are back in action on Thursday when the women's team travels to Dover, Del., to take on Delaware State at 3 o'clock. Loyola returns to Baltimore to host La Salle on Saturday. The men start things off at 10 o'clock, and the women follow at 1.
