Women's Tennis Blanks Jaspers, 7-0

BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland's women's tennis team swept all six singles matches and earned the point in doubles to defeat Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Manhattan College, 7-0, on a warm and sunny afternoon on Butler Courts.

The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead into singles action after claiming victories in No. 1- Rachel Janasek and Joy Johnson defeated Christina Puleo and Stephanie Tsao, 8-1 - and No. 3 doubles - Andie Keyser-Baker teamed with Tiffany Ash to top Hilary Valenzuela and Christina Ton, 8-2.

Manhattan had its lone win of the day in No. 2 doubles where Lili Johnson and Brianna Turano beat Judy Lite and Scarlett Hoy, 8-6.

Loyola (9-4 overall) then went on to sweep the points in the match with six singles wins. Janasek earned a 6-2, 7-6 (4) victory over Johnson in No. 1 singles, and Sabrina Fedele topped Valenzuela, 6-3, 6-2, in the second flight.

Hoy edged Puleo, 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 in the No. 3 match, while Johnson dropped Tsao, 6-1, 6-3, in No. 4. Lite defeated Ton, 6-4, 6-2, and Ash completed the match with a 6-2, 6-3, win over Turano.

The Greyhounds' men and women are back in action on Wednesday at 3 o'clock when they travel to Emmitsburg, Md., to face Mount St. Mary's.
