Greyhounds Shoot 298 On Day Two Of NCAA Regional

TUCSON, Ariz. - Patrick McCormick shot an even-par 71 on Friday, and the Loyola University Maryland men's golf team put together a round of 298 to remain in 14th place after two days of the NCAA Southwest Regional at the Omni Tucson National Resort.

McCormick shot 1-under during his first nine holes - the Greyhounds started off the back nine on Friday - birdying the 18th hole to make the turn at 35.

The junior recovered from early struggles on his second nine where he bogeyed the par-4 second hole and recorded a five on the par-3 fourth. He finished with birdies on the sixth and eighth holes to complete his round at 71.

Jonathan Ross started hot on Friday, birdying three of his first six holes, but he closed the back nine with successive bogeys on 17 and 18. He then shot five-over on the course's front nine to finish 4-over for the day.

McCormick is tied for 50th, and Ross is in 67th place after two days.

Jason Burton is one shot behind Ross, overall, after posting his second-straight round of 77.

Ryan McCarthy and Will Handley both shot 76 to round out the Greyhounds' five. McCarthy is tied for 71st, and Handley is 73rd overall.

The Greyhounds, and the rest of the field, wrap up play in the regional on Saturday.
