Golf Concludes The McLaughlin In 13th Place

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - Loyola University Maryland freshman Bart George finished tied for 22nd in his first collegiate tournament, and the Greyhounds finished 13th as a team at The McLaughlin on the Bethpage Red Golf Course.

The Greyhounds shot 297 in the final round, their highest of the tournament, and wrapped up play with a three-round total of 870.

George led Loyola throughout the tournament, finishing 1-over (214-72-68-74).

Junior Jon Ross shot a team-beat 2-over 73 for the day, finishing tied for 35th overall with a score of 217. Senior Jay Mulieri finished one shot back of Ross, carding a 76 in the final round for an aggregate score of 218 and a tie for 41st.

Senior Ryan McCarthy was fourth on the team with a final score of 222 after shooting 75 today. That effort ranks him tied him for 58th in the tournament, while junior Jason Burton also shot a 75 today. Burton finished tied for 65th with an aggregate score of 224.

Individually, freshman Jack Whelan earned a score of 77 in his final round to take 92nd with a score of 24.

Loyola will return to action Monday, Sept. 26 when it heads to Connecticut for the Hartford Hawks Invitational.
