ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Loyola University Maryland freshman Olivia Ott defeated Dyuti Dye of the U.S. Naval Academy, 7-5, 6-3, in the `C' Flight Singles quarterfinals to advance to Sunday's semifinals.
The Dublin, Ohio, native will face Towson's Ayana Dow in the semifinal, starting at 9 o'clock on Sunday.
Ott is the final remaining player for Loyola at the Bill & Sandy Moore Invitational, hosted by Navy.
Rachel Janasek won her opening match in the `A' Flight Singles, defeating Navy's Stefanie Ton, 4-6, 7-5, 10-6, but Howard's Brittany Morgan, 6-1, 6-3, in the quarterfinals, then defeated her. Sabrina Fedele also played in the `A' Singles draw, falling in the first round to George Mason's Allison Wingo, 6-1, 6-3.
Judy Lite was a 6-2, 6-3, winner over Monmouth's Dana Ferrari in the `B' Flight first round. She advanced to the quarterfinals where she was defeated by Navy's Gabby Winter, 6-0, 6-4. Tiffany Ash also won her first round contest in the `B' flight, downing Navy's Caitlin Olsen, 6-4, 6-0, but she was edged by Towson's Nisha Shah, 6-4, 6-3, in the quarterfinals.
Liz Black squared off with Towson's Ariel Burke in the `C' Singles first round, and Burke came out on top, winning 7-5, 6-0.
Jackie Lionetta was victorious in her `D' Singles Flight first round match, defeating Monmouth's Sarah Turner, 6-0, 6-1. She then lost, however, to Howard's Anne Akhimien, 6-2, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. Rachel Bergeron advanced to the `D' quarterfinals with a first-round bye, but she was edged by Towson's Amanda Ocker, 6-2, 1-6, 10-7.
