Navy Hands Women's Tennis First Loss

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The United States Naval Academy handed the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team its first loss of the season on Sunday afternoon, topping the Greyhounds, 6-1.

Loyola's Sabrina Fedele scored the Greyhounds' point at the No. 3 single slot, beating Abby Shewalter, 7-6, 3-6, 10-8.

Fedele and Tiffany Ash also were winners in doubles action, topping Natalie Houle and Caitlin Olsen at No. 3, 8-6.

Navy, however, won the doubles point, as Emani Decquir and Stefanie Ton topped Rachel Janasek and Olivia Ott, 8-6, and Erin Snook and Noelle Kaufmann beat Scarlett Hoy and Judy Lite, 8-3.

Ton beat Janasek, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, and Snook was a 6-0, 6-1, winner at No. 2. Shewalter defeated Ash, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4 singles, and Kaufmann beat Lite, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5. Das rouneded off the day for the Midshipmen with a 7-6 (5), 6-1 win over Ott.
