BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryalnd senior Rachel Janasek became just the fourth Greyhound women's tennis player to win 75 singles matches in a career, tying Kaitliin Russo '04 for third all-time at the school in the process.

The Greyhounds, however, were edged 4-3, by Marist College in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play on Sunday. The Red Fox men defeated Loyola, 6-1.

Janasek was one of three Loyola players to win their singles matches Sunday, defeating Kelsey Raynor, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. She also tied her own school record with her 15th victory this season in No. 1 singles action.

Sabrina Fedele got past Marist's Joana Sun, 7-6 (4), 6-1, at No. 3 singles, and Jackie Lionetta dropped Kayla O'Donovan, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 6.

The Red Foxes, however, also won three singles matches, as Erin McCarthy beat Scarlett Hoy, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 2, Marielle Campbell beat Tiffany Ash, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 4, and Sabrina Tahir edged Judy Lite, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 5.

Marist went into singles action with a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point. Raynor and McCarthy beat Janasek and Fedele, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles, and Sun and Campbell topped Lionetta and Ash, 8-2, at No. 3. Lite and Hoy teamed to defeat Tahir and O'Donovan, 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.

On the men's side, Kevin Zingler was the lone winner for the Greyhounds, defeating Will Reznek, 3-6, 6-2, 10-6, in No. 3 singles.
