Janasek Moves Into 2nd All-Time For Singles Wins

TOWSON, Md. - Loyola University Maryland senior women's tennis player Rachel Janasek set a school season dual match record for No. 1 singles wins with her 16th victory of the year, scoring the Greyhounds' lone point in a 6-1 loss at Towson University.

Janasek's victory also moved her into a tie for second place in career singles wins at Loyola, recording her 76th. Janasek is knotted with Jennifer Steele who also won 76 from 1997-2001, and she is 11 shy of Colleen Ruane's school record.

Janasek topped the Tigers' Aandria Carr, 6-2, 6-4, but the rest of the Greyhounds fell in straight-sets.

Nani Lizana defeated Scarlett Hoy, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2 singles, and Nisha Shah topped Sabrina Fedele, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3. Ayana Dow was a 6-2, 6-1, winner against Tiffany Ash, and Andrea Samlin topped Judy Lite, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4 and 5, respectively. Ariel Burke defeated Jackie Lionetta, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6 singles.

Burke and Dow beat Janasek and Fedele, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles, and Lizana and Samlin topped Hoy and Lite, 8-4, in the second slot. Lionetta and Ash fell, 8-4, to Shah and Carr.
