GRASONVILLE, Md. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team is in third place following the first day of the Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational Sunday afternoon at Prospect Bay Country Club.
The Greyhounds have carded a team score of 302 to trail second-place Rutgers by two strokes (12-over 300). William & Mary leads the team competition with a 3-over 291.
Sophomore Bart George leads Loyola as he is tied for ninth at 2-over 74. Junior Jon Ross and senior Will Handley are tied for ninth at 3-over 75, while freshman Jimmy Dengler is tied for 47th with a first-round score of 6-over 78 and classmate Keegan Boone is tied for 65th at 8-over 80.
Jeremy Wells of William & Mary leads the individual competition with a 4-under 68, while three competitors are tied for second (Josh Waters - LIU Brooklyn, Alex Hicks - W&M, Carlos Kim - Lehigh) with an even 72.
