Allison Cappellino led American with nine kills, hitting .444 in the process. Monika Smidova added six kills while distributing 29 assists.
Jane Lukas had nine kills to top the Greyhounds' hitting effort, while Molly Cichosz added five, and Mindy Maloney and Corri Waters each had four.
The Greyhounds return to Reitz Arena for their next match, a 7 o'clock contest against the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday night.
