2015 Loyola Men's Lacrosse Schedule

BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland will open its 2015 men's lacrosse season with consecutive home games against the University of Virginia and Penn State University, two of seven games at Ridley Athletic Complex that make up the Greyhounds' upcoming schedule.

Loyola will also renew a series with a formidable intrastate foe when it takes on the University of Maryland in April.

"We are pleased to post another exciting schedule with a great mix of league and non-conference games," said Charley Toomey who is in his ninth year as the Greyhounds' head coach. "We are happy to have worked out a game with Maryland, and we are going to face early tests against Virginia, Penn State and Towson University that will hopefully prepare us to enter a tough conference schedule."

The Greyhounds will play three non-conference games prior to starting its second season in the Patriot League. Virginia and Penn State will both make their first appearances at Ridley Athletic Complex, and the Cavaliers will play a game at Loyola for the first time since a 14-8 Greyhounds' win on March 10, 1990.

Loyola finished the 2014 season 15-2, won the Patriot League regular-season and tournament titles and spent the majority of the year ranked No. 1 nationally, spending seven weeks at the top spot.

After a pair of scrimmages, Loyola's regular-season will open against Virginia on Saturday, Feb. 7, and a week later the Greyhounds will host the Nittany Lions (Feb. 14).

Loyola's first road trip of the season will be a quick one; the Greyhounds head to Towson for a midweek game on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Patriot League action commences when College of the Holy Cross comes to Baltimore on Saturday, Feb. 21. A rematch of the Patriot League Championship Game will take place at Ridley when Lehigh University returns on Saturday, Feb. 28.

The Greyhounds will step out of conference action for two of their next three games. Contests at two-time defending national champion Duke University on Saturday, March 7, and at home versus Georgetown University on Wednesday, March 18, bookending a Saturday, March 18, trip to West Point, New York, to face the U.S. Military Academy.

Following the outing against the Hoyas, Loyola will play three-straight Patriot League games, beginning with its first-ever trip to Easton, Pennsylvania, for a Saturday, March 21, game at Lafayette College.

Loyola then hosts Colgate University, a team it last played in the 2014 Patriot League Semifinals, on Saturday, March 28, before wrapping up the home portion of its regular-season schedule on Saturday, April 4, versus the U.S. Naval Academy.

The final midweek game of the year will take place on Wednesday, April 8, when Loyola travels down Interstate 95 to play the Terrapins. The Greyhounds have not played a game at Maryland since May 13, 1958.

Two Patriot League road games wrap up the regular-season. Loyola will play at second-year program Boston University Saturday, April 11, and Bucknell University Friday, April 17.

The Patriot League Championships begin on Tuesday, April 21, with quarterfinal action for the third, fourth, fifth and sixth place finishers in the regular-season. The regular-season champion will host the semifinals and championship game Friday and Sunday, April 24 and 26, respectively.

Times for all games, as well as television information, will be released at a later time; the schedule is subject to change. Refer to LoyolaGreyhounds.com for the latest information on the schedule.
