BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland senior
Matthew Minicus was named the Patriot League Offensive League Player of the Week on Monday following his second-straight game with six points.
Minicus had all six of his points in the first half to lead Loyola to a 10-3 advantage at the break at Lafayette where the Greyhounds went on to a 16-7 win.
He scored two of the team's first four goals with the opener at 10:59 and his second with three seconds left in the first quarter. He then assisted on a
Luke Murphy goal to open the second quarter and scored the next with 12:35 on the clock.
Minicus tallied his second assist of the day on
Connor Wilbur's goal with 7:39 left in the half, and he gave Loyola a 9-3 lead with a goal at 1:40.
His six points came a week after he had five goals and an assist on April 4 in a 19-11 victory over Boston University.
This season, Minicus has 25 goals and 18 assists and is third on the team with 43 points.
Minicus ranks sixth all-time at Loyola in career points (187); his 76 assists are ninth, and he is tied for 12th with 111 goals.
The Greyhounds return to Ridley Athletic Complex for their regular-season home finale at 12 noon on Saturday, April 18, against Army West Point.
