Nov. 7, 2014

Final Stats

BALTIMORE - The United States Military Academy scored 13 of the first set's final 16 points to overcome a 15-12 deficit, and the Black Knights defeated Loyola University Maryland volleyball in three, 25-18, 25-17, 25-21, on Friday night in Patriot League action.

The Greyhounds took a three-point lead after two Mindy Maloney-led blocks. The first coming when she teamed with Kelly McShea to pin Amber Clay's attack, the second when she paired with Jane Lukas to deny Jaden Pickell.

Army, however, sided out on the next point with a Carolyn Bockrath, and they did not Loyola a point on its own serve for the rest of the set.

The third set saw 11 tie scores until Army put together three two-point runs after Molly Cichosz put away a kill for Loyola to knot the score at 11-11.

Cichosz led Loyola with 12 kills, while Jane Lukas was right behind with 10. Carolyn Bockrath led all players with 13 kills and a .522 hitting percentage for the Black Knights. Nicole Perri added 12 kills with just two hitting miscues.

The Greyhounds close out their 2014 home schedule on Saturday when they host College of the Holy Cross at 2 p.m. in Reitz Arena. Loyola will honor its two seniors - Maloney and Lauren Andersen - in a pre-game senior ceremony.
