Box Score Jan. 21, 2015

Final Stats

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team fell to Bucknell University, 66-49, Wednesday evening in Sojka Pavilion.

Junior Jeneh Perry recorded her first career double-double, leading the Greyhounds with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The junior forward grabbed six offensive boards and shot 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

Freshman Bri Betz-White and senior Steph Smith combined for the team's first nine points of the contest, tying the game for the fourth time, 9-9, in only eight and half minutes of action. Bucknell went on to lead by as much as six, 15-9, but Perry used six-straight points to knot the score, 15-15, and enter the under eight media timeout with a tie.

Defensively, the Greyhounds forced 11 turnovers in the first half, but Loyola was unable to get much going offensively, as a physical Bucknell team went to the line six times following the under eight media timeout. Sophomore Lisa Mirarchi recorded four steals in the first half, but the Bison entered the locker room with a 34-20 advantage.

Loyola (5-13 overall, 3-4 Patriot League) came out ready to shoot in the second half, as sophomores Lauren Daugherty and Mirarchi scored eight unanswered points and pulled the Greyhounds within six, 34-28, with just over 15 minutes remaining. During the run, Loyola kept Bucknell off the scoreboard for nearly six minutes, while the Bison's first field goal was not counted until the 13:19 mark.

Bucknell (12-6, 4-3) quickly regained its double-digit lead, going up 41-30, on a pair of layups and a trip to the charity stripe with 12:29 to play.

Junior Colleen Marshall pulled the Greyhounds within nine on the following possession, but Bucknell maintained its 10-plus point lead for the next five minutes. Once again, Marshall pulled Loyola within nine, 51-42, this time on a pair of shots from the free-throw line with 5:20 remaining.

Bucknell's Megan McGurk connected on back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Bison up 57-44, and the team didn't look back, as it scored nine of the game's last 14 points.

Bucknell's Audrey Dotson and Claire Maree O'Bryan scored a game-high 13 points, while Claire DeBoer grabbed 10 rebounds.

Loyola returns to action on Saturday, hosting Colgate University at 2 p.m., from inside Reitz Arena.
