BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Loyola University Maryland men's soccer team was called for a handball in the box and the Lehigh Mountain Hawks put away the penalty kick to seal a 1-0 win against the Greyhounds at the Ulrich Sports Complex Saturday night.

Junior Brennan Goldsmith had an opportunity to put the Greyhounds ahead in the 18th minute, but his shot went wide of the goal.

Jamie Luchini then converted the penalty kick for Lehigh in the 23rd minute.

Freshman A. Mickey Watson had Loyola's best look at getting its equalizer in the 33rd minute, but his header off junior Laurin Vogel's corner kick went just long, landing in the top netting of the goal.

Vogel also sent a free kick into the box in the 73rd minute, which was cleared out by the defense. Junior Antony Sare gathered the rebound at the top of the box though before sending a left-footed shot over the top post.

The Greyhounds continued to pressure as time expired, but they were unable to net their equalizer.

In goal for Loyola, junior Matt Sanchez stopped five shots.

Throughout the game, the Mountain Hawks held a 13-10 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Loyola will return to Ridley Athletic Complex for its next match, as the Greyhounds step out of conference play to host Drexel on Tuesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
