Golf Wraps Up Competition At NCAA Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Connor Flach shot a final-round 1-under par 71 on Saturday, and the Loyola University Maryland men's golf team finished 12th at the NCAA Regional.

The Greyhounds, who shot a combined 10-over 298 on Saturday, finished with 891 strokes in the three rounds, 27-over par. The University of North Carolina, Charlotte had the day's best round, 9-under, to move to 19-under for the tournament and take home first-place honors.

Flach pared his first hole and then recorded two-straight birdies to start his day 2-under through three. He put together five pars in a row before a double-bogey at the 18th, his ninth hole of the day, drew him at even at the turn.

He then birdies the fourth and sixth holes to move to 2-under before bogeying the day's final hole to come in at 1-under for the day. He was Loyola's highest finisher at the Regional, tying for 41st at 4-over.

Jeremy Wall finished tied for 55th at 7-over after carding a score of 5-over Saturday, and Jimmy Dengler was 8-over for the tournament and tied for 58th despite a score of 5-over Saturday. Matt Oshrine was tied for 61st at 9-over after a Saturday 1-over. Bart George, who also became a Loyola alum on Saturday as his classmates celebrated his graduation, was 5-over for the day and tied for 72nd overall.

The bid to the NCAA Regionals was Loyola's eighth-straight.
