Golfers Finish Fifth At Notre Dame's Fighting Irish Classic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team finished fifth at Notre Dame's Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic at Warren Golf Course Tuesday.

Junior Ethan Wall shot a 2-over 73 through the final round to finish tied for seventh, and as one of 12 golfers under par, with a 1-under 212.

Junior Connor Flach had the Greyhounds' best round of the day, shooting 1-under 70, to finish tied for 15th at 1-over 214.

Sophomore Jeremy Wall shot 8-over 221 after carding a 4-over 75 today to finish tied for 33rd, while freshman Morgan Egloff was one stroke back, finishing tied for 37th. Egloff shot 2-over 73 for a three-round score of 9-over 222.

Junior Will Wears, making his season debut, rounded out the Greyhounds with a 13-over 226, shooting 4-over 75 today.

As a team, Loyola finished fifth with an aggregate score of 15-over 867. Notre Dame and St. Mary's (CA) finished tied for the lead at 2-under 250, while Wofford was third with a 7-over 859. Utah State took fourth with a 9-over 861.

Jonathan De Los Reye (St. Mary's) was the individual medalist, shooting a 6-under 207, while Wisconsin's Ben Skogen, Dartmouth's Ian Kelsey, Eastern Michigan's Nicholas Ross and Notre Dame's Blake Barens tied for second at 3-under 210.

Loyola will return to action on Monday Sept. 28, when they travel to Meadows of Dan, Virginia, for Wake Forest's Primland Collegiate Invitational.
