ANNAPOLIS, Md. - With just under two minutes to play in the fourth quarter, senior Colleen Marshall pulled the Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team within one, 39-38, but the United States Naval Academy closed out the game with six-unanswered points to push the Midshipmen past the Greyhounds, 45-38, Wednesday evening in Alumni Hall.

Marshall led Loyola (9-14 overall, 6-6 Patriot League) with 11 points, while sophomore Bri Betz-White chipped in nine points, including seven in the second quarter. Senior Jeneh Perry grabbed a game-best 14 rebounds.

Navy (12-11, 6-6) held Loyola to only four points in the first quarter, but the Greyhounds came back to outscore the Mids, 13-9, in the second frame. Perry and Betz-White recorded 11 of the team's 13 points, and helped Loyola pull within three, 20-17, to close out the first half.

Junior Lisa Mirarchi pulled Loyola within one, 20-19, to open the third quarter, but the two teams went on to each score 12 third-quarter points to once again give the Midshipmen a three-point advantage, this time 32-29 at the end of the third frame.

Navy opened the final quarter scoring seven of the frame's first nine points, before Loyola put together a 7-0 run that was capped off by Marshall's layup with under two minutes to play.

From that point on, Navy closed out the contest with six-unanswered points, including four from the charity stripe.

Navy's Peri Curtis scored a game-high 14 points, while the Mids forced the Greyhounds to commit 16 turnovers.

Loyola travels to Boston University Saturday to take on the Terriers at 2 p.m.
